Gulab Jamun Cake

Gulab Jamun Cake:

A delicious fusion treat, Gulab Jamun cake mixes the soft texture of a cake with the rich tastes of classic Indian Gulab Jamun. Here is a thorough recipe to make this delectable treat:

Ingredients:

For the Gulab Jamun Balls:

  • 1 cup full-fat milk powder
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter), melted
  • 3-4 tablespoons milk, as needed to form a dough
  • Oil or ghee for deep frying

For the Sugar Syrup (Chashni):

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 4-5 green cardamom pods, crushed
  • A few strands of saffron (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon rose water (optional)

For the Gulab Jamun Cake:

  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • A pinch of saffron strands (optional)
  • Chopped nuts (such as almonds, pistachios) for garnish

Instructions:

    1. Prepare Gulab Jamun Balls:
      • In a mixing bowl, combine milk powder, all-purpose flour, and baking powder.
      • Mix in melted ghee thoroughly.
      • Add the milk a little at a time and knead the dough until it becomes soft. The dough ought to be somewhat sticky but smooth.
      • Roll the dough into tiny, even sections and shape them into crack-free, smooth balls.
      • In a deep fryer, heat the oil or ghee over medium heat. In batches, fry the gulab jamun balls until they are thoroughly cooked and turn golden brown. Take out and place aside.
    2. Make Sugar Syrup (Chashni):
      • Put the water and sugar in a saucepan. Stir until all of the sugar has dissolved.
      • Add the crushed cardamom pods and, if using, the saffron threads.
      • The syrup will thicken slightly after 5 to 7 minutes of simmering after it reaches a mild boil.
      • Add the rose water after turning off the heat. Mix thoroughly. The sugar syrup should be kept warm.
    3. Prepare the Cake Batter:
      • Set the oven temperature to 350°F (180°C). Oil and dust a circular cake pan.
      • Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, cardamom powder, and saffron strands (if using) in a sizable mixing bowl. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cardamom powder, and saffron strands (if using).
      • Mix yogurt and vegetable oil with the dry ingredients. Blend until silky and well mixed.
      • Transfer the mixture into the ready-made cake pan.
    4. Assemble and Bake:
      • In the cake pan, distribute the fried Gulab Jamun balls evenly over the cake batter.
      • Drizzle the warm Chashni sugar syrup gently over the cake batter and Gulab Jamun balls. Make sure the whole surface is covered with syrup.
      • As a garnish, scatter chopped nuts over the top.
      • A toothpick placed into the center of the cake should come out clean after 30 to 35 minutes of baking in a preheated oven.
      • After baking, take the cake out of the oven and let it cool for ten to fifteen minutes within the pan.
      • Place the cake onto a platter and present it either warm or at room temperature. Savor the delectable Gulab Jamun Cake!

This delightful dessert is perfect for special occasions or any time you’re craving something sweet with a touch of Indian flavors.
